Golden Bay Surveyors was established in 2003 to provide surveying services to local people in Golden Bay and the wider Tasman region. As a small boutique surveying company we can provide you with personal service and direct contact with the surveyor signing your subdivision plans.
While we are small in comparison to other multi-office or corporate consultancies outside of the Bay we pride ourselves on our practical results driven approach and delivery of high quality services. We also specialise in small to medium jobs for local people, so we are not bogged down or focused on large greenfield developments or projects outside of the district.
Our modern robotic surveying equipment allows for a single surveyor to undertake field surveys and our low overheads mean we can keep our prices sharp to make your project more profitable.

About Kyne Ritson - Licenced Cadastral Surveyor
Golden Bay Surveyors is owned and operated by husband and wife team Kyne and Jiani Ritson. Kyne is a Licenced Cadastral Surveyor who has been working in the surveying industry since 2008.
In 2024 Kyne and Jiani took over Golden Bay Surveyors to continue to provide local surveying expertise to the Golden Bay community.
Kyne and Jiani are passionate members of the Golden Bay community and after being away from the Bay for almost 20 years working have returned to make the it their home and to raise their children. During the weekend you can find them at the beach at Patons Rock or enjoying all of the beautiful locations throughout the Bay with their youngsters Eddie, Rose, and Louise.
Kyne graduated from the University of Otago in 2011 with a Bachelor of Surveying. Following graduation he worked for a large multi-disciplinary consultancy in Christchurch, assisting with the Canterbury Earthquake rebuild for a number of years.
During this time Kyne undertook the professional registration required to become a Licenced Cadastral Surveyor and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors.
Kyne received the NZIS State Sector award in 2012 for achieving the highest mark in the surveyors Laws and Regulations examination, and in 2015 completed the professional entrance examination to become a Licenced Cadastral Surveyor.
In 2016 Jiani and Kyne moved to the Bay of Plenty, where Kyne worked for Birch Surveyors, a medium sized surveying and planning consultancy in Tauranga City. In 2017 Kyne and Jiani established Te Puke Surveying, a boutique surveying and land development consultancy.
ln 2023 the family relocated to Golden Bay and in 2024 purchased Golden Bay Surveyors from Vergne Wilson, whom in turn purchased Golden Bay Surveyors from Martin Potter in 2021. Golden Bay Surveyors is currently based at 4 Buxton Lane, Takaka as well as their home office in Patons Rock, Golden Bay.
